Nusa Lembongan Power Outages: What Visitors Need to Know

Updated October 2026

Visitors to Nusa Lembongan may experience temporary electricity interruptions as Bali's electricity provider, PLN, undertakes maintenance and improvements to its power network.

Why are power outages happening?

PLN has been carrying out maintenance and upgrades across Bali to strengthen electricity infrastructure and improve the reliability of supply. Nusa Lembongan's island electricity network can also be affected by equipment faults, supply constraints and unexpected technical problems.

How long do power outages last?

Recent scheduled maintenance outages elsewhere in Bali have generally lasted around 2–3 hours, with some longer interruptions. As a practical guide, visitors might allow for interruptions of a few hours, although outages can be shorter or considerably longer depending on the cause. There is currently no verified daily outage timetable for Nusa Lembongan, so visitors should not assume that interruptions will occur at particular times.

Will power outages affect your holiday?

Temporary outages may affect air conditioning, Wi-Fi, lighting and other electrical appliances. We recommend keeping phones and electronic devices charged and planning for occasional interruptions, as well as maybe getting a local eSimm or Simm card for communication during outages.

Staying at Thula Lembongan Villas

At Thula Lembongan Villas, our local team is available to assist guests and provide updates when information becomes available. While electricity interruptions can be inconvenient, Nusa Lembongan's beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, restaurants and spectacular sunsets continue to make it a wonderful island destination.

A Note About Island Life on Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is a special place. Its natural beauty, friendly community and relaxed island lifestyle are exactly what bring visitors here from around the world.

But island life can also come with a few challenges that are worth knowing about before your stay — particularly when it comes to occasional fires and interruptions to the electricity supply.

Fire Safety on Lembongan

Like anywhere in the world, fires can happen, and there have been a number of fire incidents on Lembongan in recent years. The island has many homes, businesses and villas located relatively close together, and some traditional buildings use materials that can burn quickly. For this reason, fire prevention and awareness are particularly important.

At Thula Lembongan Villas, we take guest safety seriously. We ask guests to follow normal fire-safety precautions - If you ever notice smoke or a fire, please move to a safe area and immediately notify emergency services on 113 and our team.

Electricity on the Island

Another part of island life is that the electricity supply (by Indonesia’s state-owned electricity utility) can occasionally be interrupted. Power cuts may happen because of maintenance, equipment problems, faults or other issues within the local electricity network. These interruptions are generally outside the control of individual villas and businesses.

We understand that losing electricity can be inconvenient, particularly in a tropical climate. Electricity powers many of the things that make a holiday comfortable - to mention a few, air-conditioning, fans, Wi-Fi, refrigeration and water supply.

Our team will always do what we can to assist guests during an interruption and restore normal service as soon as possible. However, the timing of restoration ultimately depends on the local electricity network.

Enjoying the Real Lembongan

These occasional challenges are part of life on a small island that is growing and developing.

We believe it is better to be open with our guests while also remembering why we all come here: the ocean, the beaches, the sunsets, the community and the wonderful slower pace of island life. So if the lights occasionally go out, take a breath, step outside and enjoy the stars. And if you see a fire, stay safe and let the local emergency services and our team know immediately.

We hope you have a wonderful stay at Lembongan Villas and enjoy everything this beautiful island has to offer.

Tips for Using Emergency Numbers in Bali

  1. Save numbers in advance - Store 112, the police, your hotel, and your insurance provider in your phone before you travel.
  2. Know your location - Always carry your hotel’s business card or save the address in your phone. This makes it easier to explain your location when calling for help. Apps like What3Words can assist when in more remote areas.
  3. Stay calm when calling - Speak slowly, explain the situation clearly, and if possible, have someone note down your address and nearby landmarks.
  4. Have travel insurance ready - Medical costs in Bali can be high. Ensure your insurance details are easily accessible so you can provide them if needed.

Non-Emergency Support

Sometimes you may face situations that are not life-threatening but still require help.  For example:

  • Lost passport: Contact the tourist police or your embassy.
  • Stolen belongings: File a report with the local police station.
  • Minor sickness: Visit a nearby clinic or request a doctor on call.

Dialing Rules to Remember

  • Local SIM: Dial 0361 first before the number
  • Foreign SIM: Dial +62 361 before the number

Call national emergency short codes directly without adding Bali’s area code. If a short code does not connect from a foreign SIM, ask your accommodation, local guide, nearby business, or another person using an Indonesian SIM to call.

Best Fast Boat from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan: Our Guide

Getting to Nusa Lembongan is surprisingly easy. From Bali, the most popular route is by fast boat from Sanur Harbour, with the crossing usually taking around 30 minutes. There are several operators to choose from, so which is the best fast boat from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan?

Here are five options worth considering.

1. Setia Fast Ferry

Setia is our usual choice for guests travelling to Thula. The crossing takes around 30 minutes and, importantly for us, Setia arrives at Jungut Batu Beach, conveniently located for reaching the villas. Setia currently operates three departures from Sanur each day at 9.30am, 1.30pm and 5pm. The ferry has air-conditioning, comfortable seating and onboard toilets, with luggage assistance at either end. Keep in mind that arriving at Jungut Batu involves a beach landing, so wear shoes that are easy to remove and clothes that can cope with getting a little wet.

2. Rocky Fast Cruise

Rocky is another established Lembongan operator and is useful if you want more choice of departure times. It currently advertises four departures from Sanur daily: 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 5pm. Rocky also offers hotel transfers, which can make the journey easier if you're coming from another part of Bali.

4. Arthamas Express

Arthamas Express is another option with several departures throughout the day. Its current Sanur–Lembongan schedule includes 9.15am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 5pm, making it particularly useful if you need flexibility around your arrival time in Bali.

A few tips before you book

Allow plenty of time between your flight arriving in Bali and your boat departure. Traffic from Ngurah Rai International Airport to Sanur can be unpredictable, and you'll also need time to collect your luggage and check in for the boat.

For Setia, passengers are currently asked to check in 45 minutes before departure. Boat schedules can also change because of weather, sea conditions and local events, so always confirm your departure directly with the operator before travelling.

Once you're on board, though, it doesn't take long. Around 30 minutes after leaving Sanur, you'll be swapping Bali's traffic for the slower pace of Nusa Lembongan — and your island holiday at Thula Lembongan Villas can begin.

Babysitting and Child Minding in Nusa Lembongan

Travelling to Nusa Lembongan with children doesn’t mean every dinner, snorkelling trip or spa treatment needs to involve the whole family. The island has several local babysitting and nanny services, making it possible for parents to enjoy a few child-free hours while on holiday.

Whether you’d like a babysitter for an evening, an extra pair of hands during the day or help looking after little ones at your villa, here are some options to consider.

Nusa Baby Care

One of the best-known childcare services on the island is Nusa Baby Care, based in Jungut Batu.

The locally owned service has been operating for more than 10 years and offers babysitting for children of different ages and needs. According to The Lembongan Traveller, its carers speak English and are trained in first aid and CPR.

One of the things we particularly like about Nusa Baby Care is that it offers more than babysitting. Families can also arrange baby equipment hire and portable pool fencing — especially useful when staying in one of Lembongan's many private-pool villas.

KyndCare Nusa Lembongan/Bali Nannies

KyndCare is another locally based nanny and childcare service on Nusa Lembongan. It offers an alternative for families looking for babysitting or child-minding during their stay.

Phone/WhatsApp: +62 822 2162 1305
Location: Desa Nusa Lembongan

Island Nanny Lembongan

Another local option is Island Nanny Lembongan, based around Jungut Batu and Lembongan village.

This can be worth contacting if your preferred nanny service is already booked, particularly during busy holiday periods when childcare can be in high demand.

Phone/WhatsApp: +62 821 4705 1848
Location: Nusa Lembongan

What to ask when booking a babysitter

As with childcare anywhere in the world, we recommend speaking directly with the provider before confirming a booking.

Tell them the number and ages of your children and whether you need daytime or evening care. For babies and toddlers, explain sleeping and feeding routines, and make sure the carer knows about any allergies or medical requirements.

It is also worth asking about first-aid and CPR training, experience caring for children of a similar age, minimum booking times and current hourly rates.

And one important point for Lembongan: private pools are common. Talk specifically about pool safety and your expectations around water. Even when using a professional nanny, parents should decide what water activities, if any, they are comfortable allowing while they're away.

A little time to yourselves

A family holiday should feel like a holiday for parents too.

A trusted babysitter can mean a quiet dinner for two, a massage, a surf, or simply a couple of hours relaxing by the pool with a book.

If you're staying at Thula Lembongan Villas, babysitting can be arranged directly with one of the island's childcare providers. We recommend booking ahead, particularly during school holidays and other busy periods, and confirming all arrangements, rates and childcare requirements directly with your chosen provider.

Then all that's left to decide is what to do with a few precious hours to yourselves.

(Disclaimer - The choice of a child care service is the sole responsibility of the parents or gaurdians. Thula Lembongan Villas does not recommend or endorse any of the above services.)

Nyepi Laut: When Lembongan Gives the Ocean a Day of Rest

This year its on the 27 September 2026

If you are staying with us at Thula Lembongan Villas around 27 September 2026, you may notice something very unusual: the boats stop.

This is not a disruption or a bad-weather day. It is Nyepi Laut, also known as Nyepi Segara — the Day of Sea Silence.

Nyepi Laut is an important Balinese tradition in the Nusa Islands. For one day, activities on the sea come to a complete stop. Traditionally, fishing, crossings and other activities on the water are suspended from approximately 6:00 am on 27 September until 6:00 am on 28 September. The tradition is associated with respect for the sea and Dewa Baruna, and also provides a time for the marine environment to rest.

What does this mean for our guests?

For visitors to Lembongan, the most important thing to know is that there will be no normal boat transfers during Nyepi Laut. Fast boats travelling between Bali and the Nusa Islands are affected. For example, Setia Fast Ferry has specifically announced that it will not operate on 27 September 2026 because of Nyepi Laut.

This means guests travelling to or from Lembongan should plan their journey carefully and avoid scheduling a boat transfer on this date.

If you are already staying at Lembongan Villas, however, there is no need to worry. The island does not simply shut down in the same way as the main Balinese Nyepi. The focus of Nyepi Laut is the sea. Recent information confirms that while crossings and marine activities are closed, tourist destinations on Nusa Lembongan can remain open to visitors already staying there.

A Different Way to Experience the Island

For an island whose life depends so heavily on the ocean, Nyepi Laut is a beautiful reminder of the relationship between the community and the sea. Most days, the ocean is Lembongan's highway. Boats bring visitors, residents, supplies and workers between the islands and Bali.

On Nyepi Laut, that highway becomes quiet.

There are no boats crossing the water, no fishing and no marine tourism activities. Instead, the ocean is given a day of silence, respect and rest. For our guests, it can be a wonderful opportunity to slow down, enjoy the island at a quieter pace and appreciate just how important the ocean is to life in Lembongan.

So if you are here on 27 September, don't worry when the boats disappear.

The ocean is simply having a day off.

If your stay includes 27 September, please speak with the Lembongan Villas team about your arrival or departure plans so we can help you arrange your travel around Nyepi Laut.
